About SC .. a brief info

South Carolina is a very unique state inside the US. SC was the headquarters of the Confederacy during the civil war, and to this day people wave confederate flags over their homes. Ft. Jackson is the largest army training and recruiting camp (boot camp) in the US, over 90% of Army comes here before going off to war. Interesting anomalies about SC:

- No street lamps, even on the interstate highways

- Racial segregation

- First state anywhere in 5000 years of exile to allow Jews to hold office

THE WHY'S -

Why South Carolina?

Cheap - SC is the cheapest state in the states. Lowest cost of living, least amount of people - yet has all to offer as any state, from beaches to skiing, rivers, lakes, mountains, forests, and business infrastructure. In the middle of nowhere you can get a fast internet connection DSL!

Deregulated - There are no building codes.

Environmental - State laws that protect the cutting of trees help keep SC looking natural and defendable against development.

Safe Location - SC in general doesn't have any specific natural disasters. There are floods, tornadoes, and hurricanes - which only affect you if you are in a low lying area such as the beach or in a river valley. This lot is far inland to be affected by a hurricane and protected from floods.

Quiet - No one will bother you in SC unless you start some political fuss. People here stick to their own business unless invited, and there is a strong local culture that is extremely un-diverse.

Location - NY time zone is great for trading NY open straight through to Sydney. We are a short hop to Atlanta, a major hub city - an on the route of I-95, connecting FL to NY. An hour north is skiing an hour south is beaching.

Why USA?

The idea is to have 3 trading locations in 3 places in the world - namely in major trading time zones. In this case, US, EU, NZ. NZ covers Sydney and Tokyo, so you don't have to get up at 6am, EU covers London and East Europe, and NY covers NY and LA. After all we're trading currencies so an international business is only appropriate. As Elite E Services is a New Zealand company, for all business and accounting purposes we use New Zealand dollars.

Why shed?

Everything in the shed will be custom, such as the computer closet / desk system. This includes wiring, computer network wiring, air systems, water systems, and everything.

Things will work - unfortuneatly the quality of buildings around the world is deteriorating, as are standards of construction.

Perfect trading environment - you are in a quiet natural environment watching the excitement and chaos in the world's markets. Better not to get caught up in a panic buy or sell if you are in a crowded NY trading floor with people screaming. Traders (not brokers) have no reason to be near the action physically - you can see everything on the screen. Therefore it is important that you are in a psychologically healthy environment conducive to thinking - not to emotion and excitement.

THE TRADING SHED. "it is, after all, a shed"

suggested names: the laboratory - stop loss bunker - trade shack - money shed - orange shed - computer base central

Pre-Project - buying a tool shed

Building

This is a steel beam drilled over 2' into the ground into a concrete footer (foundation) attatched with giant galvanized metal screws and polyurethane glue, for those who might think the shed will fly away.

Ditchery and Fortress Building

These pictures show what a day's rain can do do a sandy soil.

And here's how we responded to mother nature...

Insulation provided by 2" styrofoam glued at all seems (airtight) and covered with aluminum foil on the walls, and aluminum bubble insulation on the top. The foil will protect the shed from most waves, including radio waves and electromagnetic radiation that might harm the computers or give our traders cancer. There is foam under the shed as well, so basically it's like a giant cooler - should stay at any temperature you want.

PRIMING

Interior Design with QuickCAD

REF is refrigerator, to the left is the sink and counter, to the right is an eating table with 2 chairs / barstools. The upper right corner is a computer closet and the bottom right is a storage closet. SL is skylight AC is Air Conditioner, adjacent to the lone computer desk with EES Trader 3 / API computer. Next to the bed is a bookshelf / nightstand, adjacent to a studio sleeper chair (futon) made out of memory foam. The bathroom is not a part of this picture.

ORANGE!!! or more precisely, "startling orange" high gloss.

Why orange? Orange produces mental stimulation, provides more oxygen to the brain, is a social color, and energetic. This is based on psychological research (is not some idea we had). Also it is a perfect complimentary color to the cobalt blue rubber floor. Also you can read text easier against orange, and anything placed in the room or hung on the walls will stand out more. At first you see the white, how it contrasts with the orange, and it seems quite shocking. But as the shed fills up with furniture it becomes less and less noticeable.

Custom Computer Closet / Desk System

The blue rubber tiles are anti-static for computers

Bathroom Shelves

Rubber floor and rubber floor trim sealed with latex glue (totally waterproof)

Custom furniture means shelves built around the items which will be placed on them.

Clothes closet / storage closet

The bed 'lifts' like a bed in a boat, for storage underneath. Traders with multi-day positions may need to take cat naps but not have the luxury to go home.
